Summer feasts (part 2)
Beach-day bites, picnic eats and alfresco ideas
from Opies.
It's estimated that the average person
picnics at least three times per
year*. Rather than relying on the old
favourites, Opies has created a range
of recipes to inject inspiration into
typical blanket bites as well as ideas
to show off a stunning centrepiece.
Home cooked food and fresh air is
a great way to relax and does not
need to break the bank. On beaches,
in parks or even in the back garden,
food often tastes much better when
eaten alfresco!
Opies' easy picnic recipes use
store cupboard staples - ideal if
it's a last-minute decision to head
outdoors because the weekend
weather forecast suddenly looks
favourable.
Create a striking centrepiece with
make-ahead Coronation Chicken
Pies. Or try stuffed Muffaletta,
which is Italian in spirit, but is a
New Orleans' classic. Upgrade the
savoury selection with Asparagus,
Gruyere & Cocktail Onion Quiche.
If you find any leftover cheese the
fridge, perhaps go for Stilton &
Walnut Scones.
