As the country tentatively takes its first steps out of lockdown,
in this issue there's a look at what's happened in the
diabetes healthcare system as regards the leap into online
learning and support in our Instand Digital feature on p.28.
Despite the coronavirus, there's been no stopping progress as more devices get
either CE Marks or FDA approval. The latest acronyms to try and remember are
AHCL and iCGM - see news reports on page 10 (Abbott's iCGM and RELIEF
research results). Read about results from other studies on different Advanced
Hybrid Closed Loop (AHCL) insulin delivery systems (p. 32). Let's not forget
the basics either - on p. 12 there's a report about how fast-acting snail insulin
(yep, really!) may help speed up the action of future insulins we could end up
using. In our KIT pages, p.14, Owen Mumford introduces a new safety needle,
Agamatrix has a new Dose Coach while LifeinaBox has given us a 50% discount
on one of it's product packs. In our Coronavirus Update we report on the 6,500
sensors donate to the NHS by Abbott, among other things. Plus, Tim Street tells
us about his diabetes journey in My Diabetes Kit (p.34). The rest of this issue is
stuffed full of food! All sorts of imaginative reactions to lockdown by producers
(and by us, their customers), a report on burgers - it's that time of year!
Stay safe & enjoy.
