Everyday a new day
Every day is a new day with diabetes, especially during
pregnancy. Jandu herself has Type 1 diabetes and has
just had her first child. During her pregnancy she was
able to better control her diabetes using GlucoMen Day
CGM. She was able to receive real-time predictive and
hypo/hyper alerts with no technical delay to make better
informed decisions and keep herself and her baby safe
throughout pregnancy.
Many people will be pleasantly surprised to hear about
the 'needle-free insertion' of the product. GlucoMen Day
CGM does not require an insertion needle to apply the
sensor, which naturally reduces the pain for the user and
reduces trauma on the application site. This gives users a
short warm-up period of under an hour. GlucoMen is also
happy to report that its sensors and over-patches are free
from isobornyl acrylate, the allergen responsible for most
CGM site skin reactions. This has meant that no adverse
reactions have been reported in their main clinical trials.
GlucoMen Day CGM also has a long-lasting sensor
life of 14 days and provides 14 days of transmitter storage
meaning that no data is ever lost. Jandu says, "We
designed a sensor which improves quality of life. If you
walk away from the receiver and out of its transmissible
distance, the data will be backfilled once you come back,
so nothing is lost."
Users can also stay connected to their loved ones
through the GlucoLog T3 app which connects to the
cloud and enables remote data sharing of current glucose
values from anywhere. There is also the option to set
and receive alarms, independently from those on the
GlucoMen Day CGM device.
Seize the Day
GlucoMen Day CGM is also cost effective due to the
reusable parts and offers significant savings versus other
real-time CGM systems on the market, allowing for
savings of up to £1,800 over a five-year period of use.
Users can ask for the system to be NHS funded or they
can choose to self-fund.
For self-funders there are three different price plans
available. The starter kit (a four-week trial) is £199 and
contains two 14-day sensors, plus a reusable transmitter,
applicator and a charger that can be used for five years.
Subsequently, users can choose to 'pay as you go' or go
for 'subscribe and save'. The latter is £129 per month and
saves you £287.88 off the annual recommended retail
price (RRP).
