Gavin Griffiths, aka the DiAthlete, started
the first marathon in Margate on 13 April
and concluded the challenge (ordeal?)
in London on 13 May, His hope was to
raise money for the League of DiAthletes
programme which hosts 'T1D Heroes'
from around the world to innovate with
fun and practical methods of Type 1
diabetes education. Ten percent of the
money raised will go towards assisting
the work of T1International's advocacy
workshops held in developing countries.
"I am running to empower the next
generation who have been diagnosed
with Type 1 diabetes and the supporting
community, educating the collective
that they have ultimate control over their
long term health," says Griffiths, "While
living with the daily responsibilities
the condition requires, no goal is
unattainable."
The 25 Marathons Challenge aimed
to involve and engage participants
connected by living with diabetes at
every local marathon route.
