JDRF update spring 2021
JDRF has published its latest
annual report highlighting
the charities achievements.
The Impact Report 2019-2020
explains how the Type 1 diabetes
charity has supported communities,
campaigned for treatments and
technologies and how it's maximised
research. Chief executive Karen
Addington says the charity could
not have achieved so much without
volunteers and employees' support.
She said: "The story of our impact is
told in this report through the voices
of people in the Type 1 community.
Nothing you read here would be
possible without our loyal supporters
and our dedicated employees - a
huge thank you to every one of you.
Together, we are changing people's
lives for the better, and getting ever
closer to our goal: A world without
Type 1 diabetes."

Virtual events
JDRF has several virtual events
scheduled this year, from education
to fundraising.
The charity is inviting you to
learn how to manage sport and
exercise with Type 1 diabetes in a
Virtual Discovery Event. DiAthlete
Gavin Griffiths, Professional Golfer
Hannah McCook and dietician Paula
Chinchilla will sit on a panel to
discuss their experiences and answer
your questions, while dietician John
Pemberton will explain how dynamic
glucose management incorporates
physical activity to maximise time
spent between 4 and 10mmol/L
and reduce insulin requirements.
The event is free and takes place
on 24 April 2021 from 10-11.30am.

Meanwhile, JDRF's popular
fundraising walks will look different
this year. Virtual One Walk will
take place between 2 May and 20
June 2021 to raise awareness and
vital funds. Anyone can take part
wherever they are - simply plan
out your walks or walk during May
and June. To celebrate the last day
of walking, you will be invited to an
online celebration.

Fancy a cuppa?
It's time to put the kettle on for a
virtual JDRF Type 1 Tea Party. Tea
parties and coffee mornings are a
successful fundraising opportunity
and provide the perfect opportunity
to get together with loved ones and
enjoy delicious treats.
The charity provides a free
downloadable fundraising pack on
how to make your virtual tea party
a success. You can download it
from HERE.
