Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation
(JDRF) for a unique
celebration to mark - two
days early! - the birthday of Sir Frederick
Banting - co-discoverer of insulin.
World Diabetes Day is on Saturday 14
November; the JDRF event is on Thursday
12 November at 7pm. The charity
wants to use the event to thank its loyal
supporters, who throughout the most
turbulent of times, have stayed loyal so it
can continue its vital work. The event will
look back at how much we've progressed
with diabetes and look forward to the
research momentum building. What
are the current exciting advances in the
field? How far could we be away from
the next breakthrough or cure? There will
also be inspirational stories from people
affected by Type 1 and staff members
working behind the scenes at JDRF. The
event is free to join. It will be livestreamed

T1 and Tech
Diabetes UK is hosting an online Type
1 and Tech conference for people living
with T1D, parents of children with Type 1,
carers and healthcare professionals who
want to understand how tech might make
a difference to them.
Hear from experts, healthcare
professionals and people living with
T1D as they guide you through available
technology, how to access it and where
to find further support. This year, the
focus is on improving access to diabetes
technology as well as the challenges and
opportunities posed by Covid-19. The
event takes place on World Diabetes Day,
14 November, 10.30am-2.30pm, head to

This year charity Diabetes Research
and Wellness Foundation (DRWF) has
collaborated with commercial education
organisation Diabetes Professional Care
(DPC, which runs national diabetes
events for HCPs), in order to bring people
living with all types of diabetes a Virtual
Diabetes Wellness Day.
United Through Diabetes is a free
to attend event for people living with
diabetes, their families, friends and carers,
it runs from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday
14th November. It is aimed at those who
would like to learn more about all forms of
diabetes, from day-to-day practical selfmanagement support through
to updates
on treatments and technology, and
advances in research. Participants will be
able to make their own personal avatar
which will allow them to navigate through
the virtual event, accessing the talks and
interacting with exhibitors and 'meeting'
new people in the diabetes community.
Key speakers include Professor Partha
Kar, National Specialty Advisor, Diabetes
with NHS England.
