The Nottinghamshire dairy also won, for
the second year running, the Cathedral
City Crown Stilton Trophy awarded for
Best Stilton. This was alongside a gold
medal for Whole Blue Stilton, 'open to
producers who are producing less than
1,000 tonnes annually' and a silver medal
for its Whole Blue Stilton (below).
The International Cheese Awards are
the world's largest awards celebration of
outstanding cheese. Now in their 118th
year, the Awards have never been bigger
- this year saw a record-breaking 4,615
entries, from 274 exhibitors, based in
31 different countries. Colston Bassett
Dairy has been creating multi awardwinning cheeses since 1913. They have
recently started a programme of long
term investment, to expand capacity
whilst maintaining their reputable high
standards. This has begun with the
opening of new maturation rooms. Having
won a cabinet of awards; including the
much coveted title of Supreme Champion
at the International Cheese Awards 2014,
it is evident that they are continually
producing cheese of exceptional quality.
Organised by the Guild of Fine
Food, the Great Taste Awards are the
acknowledged benchmark for the
speciality food and drink sector. On 49
judging days that took place from March
through to early July, a panel of over 400
experts, from all corners of the food and
drink world, tested 10,000 entries. Just
130 products were awarded the top
rating of three gold stars.
