designed to give support Type 1s when they need it
the most.

Croatia has a population
of just over 4m people
and relatively low
prevalence of diabetes
in adults (7%) compared to its
European neighbours, Bosnia &
Herzegovina, Serbia and Hungary.
There are roughly 212,000 adults
in Croatia who have diabetes but
only one main diabetes association
in Croatia called, Hrvatski Savez
Dijabetickih Udruga, which is a
member of the International Diabetes
Federation (IDF).
It is understandable then that
the diabetes apps and resources
in Croatia are not as varied and
years, with the support of his family,
he has learned how to adjust to its
demands and to live well with the
condition. He is increasingly involved
in pushing for the development of
better treatments and access to
resources in Croatia.
In times of need
Skeledžija's background in
informatics and modern technology
allowed him to come up with the
idea for DiaHelp. He has always
been passionate about diabetes
patients' rights and participates
in various projects and support
readily available compared to other
countries across Europe and further
afield. This gap in resources had
led to innovation by those who
have diabetes in Croatia, such
as 45-year-old Davor Skeledžija.
He is the Founder of DiaHelp, an
online diabetes community and
app designed with features to help
support people with Type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes has been a huge
part of Skeledžija's life. He was
diagnosed at the age of 13 when, in
his words, it felt as though he was
too young to make decisions around
adjusting his daily life around the
