National awards recognise
quality in diabetes care
The 2022 Quality in Care Diabetes (QiC) Awards
honour inspirational teams and individuals for their
contribution to diabetes care.

NHS teams from
Birmingham Women's and
Children's Foundation
Trust, Deapp, Bart's Health
and East London Foundation Trust,
and Oxford/DEVICE were among the
winners at the twelfth annual Quality
in Care (QiC) Diabetes Awards.
QiC Diabetes is partnered by
Sanofi and recognises initiatives that
improve the quality of life for people
living with diabetes, as judged by the
NHS, patients and industry.
QiC Programmes are run by
PMGroup and were first launched in
2011 to bring the NHS, industry and
patient groups closer together to
increase joint working, with the goal
of recognising good practice in the
UK and providing opportunities for
sharing projects and initiatives that
will ultimately benefit patients.
The 2022 QiC Diabetes Awards
saw the DEVICE Project Team and
Oxford Medical Simulation win both
the Diabetes Education Programmes
- Healthcare Professionals' Award
and the Judges' Special Award.
Meanwhile, Wrexham diabetologist
Dr Stephen Stanaway was recognised
as Diabetes Professional of the Year.
Debbie Woods, head of medical
general medicines Sanofi UK
and Ireland said: "Sanofi remains
committed to the care of people with
diabetes and we are proud to support
Quality in Care Diabetes again in
2022. These awards provide a great
opportunity for the inspirational
work done across the country,
often unrecognised on a regional
or national level, to be shared and
