traditional blood glucose monitoring,
met their HbA1c targets. Another
aspect of data gleaned showed that
the Type 2 participants had 27%
better adherence to medication after
6 months and significantly improved
outcomes without increasing
healthcare provider hours.
Speakman-Brown summarises,
"It is becoming increasingly clear
that CGM can be used as a way of
improving poor control and possibly
even preventing the onset of Type
2 diabetes complications, in some
cases, via education for either
disease progression or developing
complications, along with simple
tricks, like knowing how to read
a label." Programmes such as
DESMOND for Type 2 diabetes are
NICE recommended and are available
for learning more about the condition
and diabetes-related changes.
Dexcom is the most connected
CGM for insulin pumps, it's G7 data
goes direct to Apple watch (not via an
iPhone). Dexcom One+ was launched
specifically with T2 diabetes in
mind. It's discreet to wear, is water
resistant, can be used to share data.
*The guideline covers care and
management for adults (aged 18 and
over) with type 2 diabetes. It focuses
on patient education, dietary advice,
managing cardiovascular risk,
managing blood glucose levels, and
identifying and managing long-term
complications.
