One key aspect of Tidepool is
that all of its employees are remotely
distributed. While the non-profit
is registered in California, USA,
the company have team members
across the US, in Canada, Australia,
New Zealand, Nigeria, Bulgaria, and
even in Wales. Following the FDA
clearance the company plans initially
to expand the availability of Tidepool
to the United States, with a Loop
being offered internationally in due
course.

TIDEPOOL SOFTWARE EXPLAINED
• Tidepool Uploader allows people with diabetes to upload data from
their diabetes devices. Choose your own devices. Upload data from
pumps, CGMs, and blood glucose meters using Tidepool Uploader on
your Mac or Windows PC.
• Tidepool Mobile allows users to make additional notes on their data
to add context when reviewing things. Tidepool Mobile is a companion
app to Tidepool that lets you add notes about meals, exercise or anything
else. See your CGM, pump, and BG meter data alongside your
notes. Track your favourite meals and your regular exercise and learn
from what happens.
• Tidepool Web visualizes uploaded data to people with diabetes and
providers.
• Tidepool Loop runs an algorithm every five minutes to adjust a user's
basal rate for the next 30 minutes, with the goal to help reduce or avoid
high and low blood glucose.
Access and compatibility
In the US, provided someone is using an insulin pump, CGM or blood
glucose meter compatible with Tidepool's software, they can create a
free Tidepool account and start uploading their data.
It is now an FDA-regulated product, broadly available via the iOS App
Store, compatible with multiple, in-warranty pumps and CGMs including
(but not limited to) Medtronic's MiniMed 640G and 670G hybrid
closed loop insulin delivery systems, Insulet's Omnipod DASH, Tandem's
T:Slim X2, Abbott's FreeStyle Libre reader and Ascensia's Contour
Next Link blood test meters.
